President Signs S. 1549, the
“Congressional Budget Office Data Access Act”
On October 2, 2024, the President signed S. 1549, the Congressional Budget Office Data Access Act (Public Law 118-104). The House passed this bill on September 23, 2024 by voice vote under suspension of the rules. On June 22, 2023, the Senate passed this bill without amendment by unanimous consent.
S. 1549 amends the Privacy Act of 19741 by adding the Director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), or any authorized representative of the Director, to the list of exempted parties to which agencies are permitted to disclose an individual’s record without such individual’s prior written consent.
