Guides to Social Security History Archives
The SSA History Archives contain original source documents, secondary
materials, published and unpublished documents, photographs, recordings
and artifacts. The Archives contains approximately 1,000 linear
feet of documents, about 10,000 photographs, over 500 films and videotapes
and about 500 audio recordings. The material covers the programmatic,
legislative and administrative histories of Social Security and Medicare
and the history of the Social Security Administration.
