Monthly benefits are payable from the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance (OASI) and Disability Insurance (DI) Trust Funds for certain types of beneficiaries. Data on the total number of beneficiaries eligible for such benefits are available here.
Each month, some individuals become entitled to a new or different type of benefit. The number of beneficiaries awarded a benefit, and the average monthly amount awarded, are available through one of the forms below.
Note that the average benefit amounts provided by the forms below represent the amounts due to awards for the given month in the table. These amounts exclude any adjustments to benefits for retroactive payments and certain payment withholding that may be attributable to eligibility in prior months. For awards, retroactive payments are made to individuals for any applicable months of eligibility prior to month in which the award is effective. Total net retroactive payment data to all beneficiaries are available here.
You may first want to see a brief description of the available types of beneficiaries before continuing. You may view a graph of awards to retired and disabled workers.
Data are available for 1975 and later.
